Het spel van licht en schaduw met de open of gesloten kantdelen, doorzichtig en toch ook niet, de afgewende blik, uitnodigend, het opgestoken haar, de ragfijne haartjes die het kapsel ontspringen, de neklijn die versterkt wordt door het split, fascinerend in elegantie. Het moet een feest geweest zijn het te schilderen, het is zeker een feest er naar te kijken.
The play of light and shadow with the open or closed lace sections, transparent yet not, the averted gaze, inviting, the updo, the gossamer-fine hairs emerging from the hairstyle, the neckline enhanced by the slit, fascinating in its elegance. It must have been a joy to paint it, and it is certainly a joy to look at it.
Irene Veltman (Harlingen, 1991) Met haar voorliefde voor (romantisch) realisme en technische vaardigheid heeft ze zich toch prima weten te scholen in de conceptuele traditie van Minerva. Daarna volgde ze nog een tijd lessen aan de Academy of Florence. Nu volgt ze haar eigen weg.
Na haar afstuderen won ze de Coba de Groot Stipendium, een prestigieuze kunstprijs uitgereikt aan talentvolle jonge kunstenaars uit Fryslân, die afstudeerden aan Minerva, met als doel hen financieel en professioneel te ondersteunen. De winnaar ontvangt niet alleen een geldbedrag, maar ook een jaar lang intensieve artistieke coaching én de mogelijkheid om een solotentoonstelling te houden in het iconische Museum Martena in Franeker.
Irene Veltman (Harlingen, 1991) With her predilection for (romantic) realism and technical skill, she has managed to train herself excellently in the conceptual tradition of Minerva. She subsequently took classes at the Academy of Florence for a while. Now she follows her own path.
After graduating, she won the Coba de Groot Stipendium, a prestigious art prize awarded to talented young artists from Friesland who graduated from Minerva, with the aim of supporting them financially and professionally. The winner receives not only a sum of money, but also a year of intensive artistic coaching and the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition at the iconic Museum Martena in Franeker.
